Parted Magic is a Live CD/USB Linux-based operating system created to easily partition hard drives. It is mainly powered by the GParted and Parted tools, but it also contains programs like partimage, testdisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, etc.Parted Magic allows users to format internal and external hard drives, move, copy, create, delete, expand and shrink hard drive partitions, clone your hard drive, to create a full backup, test hard drives for impending failure, as well as to test memory for bad sectors.With Parted Magic you can benchmark your computer for a performance rating, securely erase your entire hard drive, wiping it clean from all data, and give access to non-booting systems allowing you to rescue important data.Parted Magic is distributed as a single Live CD ISO image, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. These include: Gpointing Device Settings, Rdiff Backup, Wimlib, PCRegEdit, and a ton of new perl modules for the ClamTK upgrade.We have come up with a new module system that drastically reduces the amount of RAM needed to use extra programs. In the past we used .txz and .deb packages that were placed in pmagic/pmodules on the CD or USB. Make no mistake, these STILL work. The new module system works exactly like the old system. You simply place our new .sqfm packages into the pmagic/pmodules folder and they merge into the exsisting Ram Disk without using the extra RAM needed in the uncompressed form.
