VIPS is an open source graphical software written in C++ and Python, providing a free image processing system that aims to implement some of the functionality found in the powerful Photoshop application.While VIPS will not be able to help you retouch photographs like Photoshop can, it will however help you to manipulate images in many other ways. In addition, VIPS can handle very large images.VIPS is comprised of the nip2 graphical user interface (GUI) and the libvips library, which is used for processing images.
