systemd Description

systemd (formerly udev) is an open source command-line software that runs in the background and acts as a system and service manager for Linux operating systems.Being compatible with the LSB and SysV init scripts, systemd uses D-Bus and socket activation for starting services, provides aggressive parallelization capabilities. In addition is supports restoring and snapshotting of the system state, maintains automount and mount points, keeps track of processes by using Linux control groups, offers on-demand starting of daemons, and implements a complex transactional dependency-based service control logic.systemd is included in almost every kernel-based Linux operating system, and it can be used as a drop-in replacement for the sysvinit software. Requirements:It requires a 2.6 Linux kernel or later with CONFIG_HOTPLUG enabled to run.It is recommended that you also have the Linux Hotplug scripts installed, but it is not necessary for it to work properly. What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]A new component"systemd-networkd"has been added that can be used to configure local network interfaces statically or via DHCP. It is capable of bringing up bridges, VLANs, and bonding. Currently, no hook-ups for interactive network configuration are provided. Use this for your initrd, container, embedded, or server setup if you need a simple, yet powerful, network configuration solution. This configuration subsystem is quite nifty, as it allows wildcard hotplug matching in interfaces. For example, with a single configuration snippet, you can configure that all Ethernet interfaces showing up are automatically added to a bridge, or similar. It supports link-sensing and more.A new tool"systemd-socket-proxyd"has been added which can act as a bidirectional proxy for TCP sockets. This is useful for adding socket activation support to services that do not actually support socket activation, including virtual machines and the like.Add a new tool to save/restore rfkill state on shutdown... .You can free download systemd from Softpedia now.
