Ghostscript Portable was specially developed as a set of tools that provides:· An interpreter for the PostScript language and the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).· A set of C procedures (the Ghostscript library) that implement the graphics and filtering (data compression / decompression / conversion) capabilities that appear as primitive operations in the PostScript language and in PDF.The major achievement of this release is a merge from the ESP Ghostscript fork, used to support the CUPS printing system.The standalone version of the software can be found here. For certain classes of file this can result in a useful performance increase. · GrayDetection allows suitably written devices to detect "color" input in near neutral tones (i.e. near monochrome) and to convert "on-the-fly" to pure grayscale, whilst retaining the ability to print full color on demand.
