unlike most file managers, which use two-panels to access/view files (norton commander, this file manger uses multiple windows to view files. this kind of aproach you could see at adobe photoshop, or opera web browser,but it is pretty new thing for file managers.
stylet is belongs to mdi (multiple document interface) kind of applications. as it's name is not saying (because it's wrong) mdi means that program has one main window, which is called parrent windiow, and multiple child windows, which usually you can crete as much as you like.
parent window usually does nothing but holding the interface, and controls the child windows, while child windows do all the work. well, it is obvious that this names and functions were not given by a someone who not like children very much.
some of the well-know mdi-type programs are: opera web browser, adobe photoshop and stylet file manager.
